What Asda actually requires

Asda’s chargeback rules are unforgiving — late ASNs, mismatched quantities, and missing SSCCs all carry direct deductions. Aduno validates every document before it leaves your system.

ORDERS

Inbound purchase order. EDIFACT format (Asda has Walmart heritage but operates as a UK-standard EDIFACT trading partner). Aduno parses and routes to your order system.

DESADV

ASN with SSCC pallet labels. Asda requires the ASN before the goods arrive at the depot — late ASNs are the most common cause of chargebacks. Aduno surfaces ASN deadline at the moment the PO is received.

INVOIC

Invoice. Must reference the PO and DESADV; line items must reconcile. Mismatches are deducted automatically.

RECADV + CONTRL

Goods receipt confirmation and functional acknowledgements. Aduno generates and reconciles both automatically; we surface receipt discrepancies to you within minutes, not days.

14 days, four milestones

Fixed scope, fixed price. We handle the EDI transport, the AI handles the mapping, and we monitor the first 50 transactions end-to-end.

Step 1
Day 1

Scoping call

We confirm your Asda supplier number, the SKUs in scope, and the systems on your side (ERP, WMS, or spreadsheet — Aduno connects to all of them).

Step 2
Days 2–6

Connect & map

We set up the EDI transport (AS2 or VAN), register your GLN, and our AI builds the EDIFACT mappings for every required document type.

Step 3
Days 7–11

Test cycle

Test transactions through Asda’s EDI test environment. Every ORDERS gets a matching DESADV and INVOIC; every total balanced; every code valid.

Step 4
Days 12–14

Go live

First production PO flows end-to-end. We monitor the next 50 transactions and catch chargeback risk before it costs you margin.

Frequently asked

Asda told me to use SPS Commerce / Tradeshift. Can I use Aduno instead?

Yes. Asda accepts EDI from any compliant provider — the named vendors are recommendations, not requirements. Aduno connects via standard AS2 or VAN, the same as the incumbents.

How does Aduno help with Asda’s chargebacks?

Asda’s chargeback rules are largely automated, which means they’re also predictable. Aduno validates every DESADV against the original ORDERS pre-send, tracks the ASN-before-delivery deadline from the moment the PO arrives, and reconciles INVOIC line totals. Most of what Asda would chargeback for, we catch before the document leaves your system.

Asda was acquired and the systems are changing — does that affect anything?

Asda’s EDI infrastructure has been stable through ownership transitions. The EDIFACT standards and the chargeback rules haven’t materially changed. If Asda announces a transport or format change, Aduno absorbs it — that’s exactly what the platform is built for.

What if my finance system is Sage, Xero, or NetSuite?

Aduno’s AI mapping connects to anything that exposes data — REST APIs, CSV exports, even PDFs. You don’t need an ERP that “speaks EDI”; we translate.

What does the 14-day connection guarantee actually mean?

If we don’t have you sending validated test transactions to Asda’s EDI test environment within 14 days of kickoff, your fee is refunded. The actual go-live date depends on Asda’s onboarding queue — we don’t control that — but we guarantee we’ll be ready when they are.
